“I know quite certainly that I myself have no special talent; curiosity, obsession and dogged endurance, combined with self-criticism, have brought me to my ideas.”
Obsession is wrong, right? A too strong focus on one thing to the exclusion of many things.
“The creative habit is like a drug. The particular obsession changes, but the excitement, the thrill of your creation lasts.”
Except that we admire the products of those whose obsession produces an outcome.
“What moves those of genius, what inspires their work is not new ideas, but their obsession with the idea that what has already been said is still not enough.”
If the outcome of my current obsession is worthy of admiration, will you forgive me for ignoring you?
One thought on “Obsession”
I am currently obsessed with jigsaw puzzles. I found a site on FB where you can do puzzles for free & try as I might – I cannot stop. It’s driving me to distraction! But I love puzzles, so I’m torn about whether I want to fix this obsession or not. The obsession is robbing me of lots of my time, but it is providing so much enjoyment in return. I think I’ll stay obsessed a while longer.
