On Spirituality

Daily writing prompt
How important is spirituality in your life?

I am not a spiritual person. I don’t find a connection with anything intangible.

My ex-husband didn’t adhere to a specific religion, but he had a deep sense of spirituality. He believed in the existence of souls and that when we die, our souls merge into a collective oneness that binds us all together. Although he didn’t explicitly use the term ‘reincarnation,’ he thought of this ‘collective’ as the source from which we (referring to the soul, separate from the body) come and return to.

My lack of spirituality was just one of the numerous points we disagreed on. How could I believe that ‘this’ life was all there is? Only one beginning and one end with no purpose, no plan, and no meaning to it all?

No, I don’t require external validation to appreciate the wonder and beauty of being alive in the present moment.

‘This’ is enough.
